Building Story

Originally a print house, Altsis 4 later became the property of a group of artists. The building is being redeveloped by ARID into a residential project with 27 units, maintaining its industrial structure while adapting it to contemporary use.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Located in the dynamic and evolving Omonia district, this area is gaining momentum with significant investments reshaping its urban landscape. Major developments from prominent companies are elevating the neighborhood’s profile. Adjacent to the vibrant Exarcheia neighborhood, known for its colorful street art, eclectic bars, cafés, and cultural energy, Omonia offers a rich blend of urban renewal and artistic expression. Its proximity to universities and the soon-to-be-renovated National Archaeological Museum adds further appeal for students, professionals, and cultural enthusiasts alike.

Architechture

The building’s former life as a print house shaped its internal logic: rectangular rhythms, a clear structural grid, and functional simplicity. To create the residential units, the internal layout was reorganized, including relocating the stairwell to the opposite side of the building to improve circulation and spatial flow.
Community is central to the design: a shared rooftop with an outdoor kitchen offers a communal gathering space, balancing the fact that not every unit includes a private balcony.

Concept To Living

The interiors preserve the building’s industrial character through exposed concrete, geometric window patterns, and glass bricks. Studio and one-bedroom apartments are balanced with warm wood details and Belgian-style windows that soften the raw structure. The design blends industrial texture with contemporary residential comfort.
